El propósito de este editorial es hacer un recorrido sobre la publicación de conjuntos de datos, su importancia y ventajas; además de mostrar la iniciativa de Pensar en Movimiento de poner a disposición las bases de datos que acompañan los artículos de investigación.


Varela-Briceño, M. (2023). The publication of data sets through scientific journals: The case of Pensar en Movimiento. PENSAR EN MOVIMIENTO: Revista de Ciencias del Ejercicio y la Salud, 21(1), 1-6. Scientific publishing has evolved, and academic journals have evolved with it—initially in printed versions, and currently in electronic ones. This has resulted in a series of changes in management processes. For instance, the movements for open access and science have emerged. The purpose of this editorial is to present an overview of the publication of data sets, its importance and advantages, in addition to showing the initiative of Pensar en Movimiento to make available the data bases that go along with research articles.

ABSTRACT

Fue por medio de los estudios sobre softwares de periódicos científicos que Juan Pablo Alperin comenzó a desarrollar investigaciones sobre la comunicación científica, principalmente en relación a la temática de acceso abierto y su cuestión más amplia que envuelve la ciencia abierta. En entrevista con la Reciis, el profesor e investigador argumenta que es preciso pensar en cómo abrir el acceso al conocimiento y no apenas garantirlo. En ese sentido, la reflexión sobre cómo hacer ciencia abierta promueve discusiones para tornar el sistema de investigación científica con más equidad y más colaborativo. El profesor comenta sobre los efectos positivos y los desafíos que la pandemia de covid-19 promueve en relación a la comunicación científica. Alperin destaca iniciativas en la América Latina volcadas a una ciencia más democrática y reafirma la necesidad de defender una ciencia abierta que interrogue su modo de actuar, siendo con eso, menos tecnocrática. Foi por meio dos estudos sobre softwares de periódicos científicos que Juan Pablo Alperin passou a desenvolver pesquisas sobre a comunicação científica, principalmente em relação à temática de acesso aberto e sua questão mais ampla que envolve a ciência aberta. Em entrevista à Reciis, o professor e pesquisador argumenta que é preciso pensar em como se abrir o acesso ao conhecimento e não apenas garanti-lo. Nesse sentido, a reflexão sobre como fazer ciência aberta promove discussões para tornar o sistema de pesquisa científica mais equânime e colaborativo. O professor comenta sobre os efeitos positivos e os desafios que a pandemia de covid-19 promoveu em relação à comunicação científica. Alperin destaca iniciativas na América Latina voltadas a uma ciência mais democrática e reafirma a necessidade de se defender uma ciência aberta que interrogue o seu modo de agir, sendo, com isso, menos tecnocrática. Juan Pablo Alperin é professor associado da Simon Fraser University.


Through studies on software for scientific journals, Juan Pablo Alperin began to develop research on scientific communication, mainly on the theme of open access and its broader issue that involves open science. in an interview with Reciis, the professor and researcher argues that it is necessary to think about how to open access to knowledge and not just guarantee it. In this sense, reflection on how to do open science promotes discussions to make the scientific research system more equitable and collaborative. The professor states the positive effects and challenges that the covid-19 pandemic has brought about for scientific communication. Alperin highlights initiatives in Latin America aimed at a more democratic science and reaffirms the need to defend an Open Science that questions its way of acting, being less technocratic. Juan Pablo Alperin is an associate professor at Simon Fraser University.

ABSTRACT

Resumen El trastorno por déficit de atención e hiperactividad (TDAH) ha sido estudiado por medio de resonancia magnética durante más de 30 años, superando 2200 artículos en PubMed. Sin embargo, todavía no se entienden bien las bases cerebrales del TDAH. Esto refleja la dificultad de replicar resultados, que afecta a casi todos los esfuerzos científicos. Los factores que contribuyen a resultados falsos positivos incluyen tamaños de muestra pequeños y la superabundancia de métodos analíticos. En el campo de la genética mole cular, estos retos conllevaron a la adopción del requisito de compartir los datos genéticos inmediatamente para que la comunidad pueda trabajar de forma conjunta, y que se apliquen métodos rigurosos tomando en cuenta la verdadera cantidad de pruebas estadísticas. Esto ha producido resultados más creíbles, aunque con tamaños de efecto muy reducidos respecto a los anteriores. En este breve resumen se usan dos consorcios, uno internacional llamado ENIGMA (Enhancing Neuro-Imaging Genetics through Meta-Analysis), y el otro norteamericano llamado ABCD (Adolescent and Cognitive Behavior Development Study), para ilustrar este movimiento a la ciencia abier ta. Aquí se revisa la primera cosecha de hallazgos, aunque todavía limitados a análisis transversales. Ya que ABCD fue diseñado como esfuerzo longitudinal, la combinación con la maduración continua del campo promete transformar nuestro entendimiento de la patofisiología de TDAH (probablemente también alterando la definición diagnostica al largo plazo) para acercarnos al día en el cual la neuroimagen sea útil en la clínica.


Abstract Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has been the focus of magnetic resonance imaging studies for more than 30 years, with more than 2200 articles listed in PubMed. Nevertheless, the brain substrates of ADHD remain poorly understood. This reflects the crisis of replicability across nearly all scientific endeavors, deriving from factors such as small sample sizes combined with a proliferation in analytical approaches, yielding high rates of false positive results. The field of molecular genetics confronted this by adopting open and immedi ate sharing of raw data and insistence on rigorous corrections for multiple comparisons. These strategies are yielding more robust genetic findings, albeit with much smaller effect sizes than before. This brief review focuses on two recent consortium efforts, i.e., the international Enhancing Neuro-Imaging Genetics through Meta-Analysis (ENIGMA), and the U.S. Adolescent Behavior & Cognitive Developm ent Study (ABCD). Both embrace the culture of open science, and are beginning to yield credible findings, despite being limited initially to cross-sectional analyses. As the field continues to mature, these and other ongoing longitudinal large-scale studies are poised to transform our understanding of the pathophysiology of ADHD to bring closer the day when neuroimaging can contribute to clinical utility.

Acompanhar a velocidade das mudanças, qualitativas e quantitativas, na produção de conhecimento em tempos de pandemia de covid-19 impulsionou o desenvolvimento de inúmeras iniciativas de monitoramento da informação científica. O scanCOVID-19 foi uma delas. Essa nota de conjuntura procura situar a importância do investimento em projetos dessa natureza, que possam ter reflexos nas relações entre ciência, Estado e sociedade.


Keeping up with the speed of qualitative and quantitative changes in the production of knowledge in times of the covid-19 pandemic was a stimulus to the development of numerous initiatives to track scientific information. The scanCOVID-19 was one of them. This note seeks to situate the importance of investing in projects of the same nature, which may have effects on the relations between science, state, and society.


Acompañar la velocidad de los cambios, cualitativos y cuantitativos, en la producción de conocimiento en tiempos de la pandemia de covid-19 ha impulsado el desarrollo de numerosas iniciativas de seguimiento de la información científica. El scanCOVID-19 fue uno de ellos. Esta nota de coyuntura busca situar la importancia de invertir en proyectos de esta naturaleza, que puedan tener efectos sobre las relaciones entre ciencia, Estado y sociedad.

ABSTRACT

RESUMEN Esta Semblanza resume la trayectoria del Dr. Alberto Juan Dorta Contreras, eminente científico, quien dedicara su vida a la Neuroinmunología y difusión de los principios de Ciencia Abierta en Cuba. Su labor profesional se centró principalmente en la investigación básica y clínica, sobre todo, de la Inmunología con énfasis en la repercusión de las enfermedades infecciosas y el papel del sistema del complemento en el Sistema Nervioso Central. Importante ha sido, además, su función como docente en pregrado y posgrado a través de las Becas Quincke, un espacio creado por el Dr. Dorta para acercarse al mundo de la experimentación. Se desempeñó en los últimos años como director de la Revista Cubana de Investigaciones Biomédicas, la que impulsó a categorías superiores con su esfuerzo y rigor de trabajo, con lo que llegó a ocupar en este momento el primer lugar de las revistas cubanas según el ranking de Scimago. Su vida, obra y destacada trayectoria hacen que el Dr. Dorta Contreras sea un ejemplo de sacrificio, consagración, valor, honestidad, sencillez, altruismo y entrega a la ciencia y la humanidad. Por tales razones, el objetivo de esta Semblanza es destacar los aspectos más relevantes de su obra como científico y docente, apoyados en testimonios, búsqueda en bases de datos, entrevistas a estudiantes y colegas de trabajo para resumir la prolífera vida laboral del Dr.C Alberto Juan Dorta Contreras.


ABSTRACT This Semblance summarizes the career of Dr. Alberto Juan Dorta Contreras, an eminent scientist who dedicated his life to Neuroimmunology and the dissemination of open science principles in Cuba. His professional work was mainly focused on basic and clinical research, especially Immunology, with an emphasis on the impact of infectious diseases and the role of the complement system in the Central Nervous System. Also important has been his role as an undergraduate and graduate teacher in the Quincke Scholarships, a space created by Dr. Dorta to get closer to the world of experimentation. In recent years, he served as director of the Cuban Journal of Biomedical Research, which he promoted to higher categories with the effort and rigor of his work, currently occupying the first place among Cuban journals according to the Scimago ranking. His life, work and outstanding career make Dr. Dorta Contreras an example of sacrifice, dedication, value, honesty, simplicity, altruism and dedication to science and humanity. For these reasons, the objective of this article is to highlight the most relevant aspects of his work as a scientist and teacher, supported by testimonies, database searches, interviews with students and work colleagues to summarize the prolific working life of Dr C. Alberto Juan Dorta Contreras.

Introducción: Múltiples son los artículos publicados que abordan el tema de la ciencia abierta y su importancia para la sociedad, especialmente para la comunidad de investigadores. Esta constituye, ineludiblemente, el presente y futuro de las revistas científicas como método de expandir las investigaciones con alta calidad y credibilidad. La ciencia abierta como movimiento, tiene varios componentes y dentro de ellos, la gestión de citas y referencias de datos, códigos y materiales, que fundamentan la necesidad de que los autores tengan disponibles los contenidos subyacentes a los artículos que se publican y que constituyen la base de los resultados obtenidos en cada investigación. Objetivo: Evaluación de la eficacia de los protocolos de recuperación mejorada en cirugía cardiaca. Métodos: El protocolo que se propone fue elaborado por la investigadora principal (registro público cubano de ensayos clínicos RPCEC00000304) y se describe acorde a las recomendaciones de la lista internacional de chequeo para ensayos clínicos (SPIRIT). Conclusiones: Estarían en relación a si se puede demostrar, después de terminada la investigación, si el protocolo motivo de la Intervención, es mejor, igual o peor que el protocolo de control(AU)


Introduction: There are multiple articles published that address the subject of open science and its importance for society, especially for the research community. This constitutes, inevitably, the present and future of scientific journals as a method of expanding research with high quality and credibility. Open science, as a movement, has several components including the management of citations and references of data, codes and materials, which support the need for authors to have available the underlying content of the articles published and constituting the base for the results obtained in each investigation. Objective: Assessment of the efficacy of improved recovery protocols in cardiac surgery. Methods: The proposed protocol was prepared by the main researcher (Cuban public registry of clinical trials: RPCEC00000304) and is described according to the recommendations of the international checklist for clinical trials (SPIRIT). Conclusions: They would be related to whether it can be demonstrated, after the end of the investigation, if the protocol reason for the intervention is better, equal to, or worse than the control protocol(AU)

ABSTRACT

Voyant Tools es un entorno web de código abierto diseñado para facilitar el ciclo hermenéutico por medio de la navegación entre diferentes niveles de lectura, análisis y visualización interactiva de textos (artículos científicos, páginas web, mensajes de Twitter, obras literarias, etc.). El objetivo de este artículo es ejemplificar cómo podemos usar esta herramienta para la exploración y análisis de textos científicos, que permitan descubrir temas y asociaciones entre documentos. Se utiliza como corpus para el análisis 33 documentos científicos que cuestionan y problematizan los movimientos de acceso abierto y ciencia abierta. Por medio de diferentes herramientas analíticas y de visualización emergen términos (open source, APC, impact factor, prestige, exclusión, colonialism, coloniality) que, como rastros de migajas de pan, permiten identificar autores, documentos y problematizaciones relacionadas con el acceso abierto y la ciencia abierta. Se concluye que Voyant Tools es una herramienta versátil e intuitiva con diversas potencialidades para el análisis y el descubrimiento de información en los textos. Con respecto al tema explorado, se identifican críticas y problematizaciones relacionadas con el énfasis en el mercado y la aceleración capitalista por detrás de políticas e iniciativas de acceso abierto y ciencia abierta, el auge de revistas de acceso abierto comerciales que cobran por procesamiento de artículos (APC) y la aparición de nuevos colonialismos y epistemicidios cuando se combinan acceso abierto, mercantilización del conocimiento y uso distorsionado del factor de impacto(AU)


Voyant Tools is an open-source web environment designed to facilitate the hermeneutical cycle by navigating between different levels of reading, analysis, and interactive visualization of texts (scientific articles, web pages, Twitter messages, literary works). The objective of this article is to exemplify how we can use this tool for the exploration and analysis of scientific texts, discovering themes and associations between documents. 33 scientific documents that question and problematize the open access and open science movements are used as a corpus for analysis. Through different analytical and visualization tools, emerge terms (open source, APC, impact factor, prestige, exclusion, colonialism, coloniality) that as traces of breadcrumbs serve to make new explorations and visualizations that allow to identify authors, documents and problems related to open access and open science. It is concluded that Voyant Tools is a versatile and intuitive tool with various potentialities for the analysis and discovery of information in texts. Regarding the topic explored, criticisms and problematizations related to the emphasis on the market and capitalist acceleration behind open access and open science policies and initiatives are identified, with the rise of the commercial open access journals' business model based on article processing charge (APC) and the appearance of new colonialism and epistemicide when open access, commodification of knowledge and distorted use of the impact factor are combined(AU)

ABSTRACT

Open science advocates open access to scientific papers and data sharing, offering a new application scenario for deep integration of the new generation of information technology and hospital discipline services. This paper analyzed the new momentum incurred by open scientific practice, such as scientific data open sharing platform, new scientific research methods, data citation norms, and scientific research crowdsourcing platform. As found in the questionnaire survey and person interview on data literacy of medical staff in the prefecture-level hospitals, the medical staff had a certain degree of data literacy, but they lacked such cognition and application ability of professional knowledge as data annotation and heterogeneous data transformation, and they had a weak willingness to share data. In order to resolve the above problems, the author recommended standardizing scientific research data management, constructing research data release system, and improving the supporting mechanism of data sharing.

Introducción: Las Becas de Investigación Quincke son una iniciativa que se sustenta en la necesidad de la adquisición de habilidades para la investigación, lo que no está contemplado en la malla curricular de los estudiantes de Medicina en Cuba. Objetivo: Describir los aspectos más novedosos en cuanto a innovación de las becas Quincke, que se ha mantenido sostenidamente y en ascenso todos estos años para capacitar a los estudiantes como futuros científicos. Métodos: Este estudio es una investigación cualitativa. Se usa como instrumento de investigación la entrevista y los grupos focales y, además, se evalúa la evidencia documental disponible. Resultados: Hasta la fecha han asistido 101 estudiantes de Medicina y 24 médicos residentes de Angola, Bolivia, China, Colombia, Cuba, España, Estados Unidos, México, Uruguay y Vietnam. Han participado profesores de España, Ecuador y Perú a impartir gratuitamente sus conocimientos. A partir de datos originales no publicados, basándose en los principios de la ciencia abierta, los estudiantes deben llegar a los resultados a partir de una hipótesis. Para los estudiantes que provienen del exterior se ha posibilitado que soliciten travel grants gracias a un donativo de la American Physiological Society a partir del International Opportunity Program Award. Conclusiones: Las Becas de Investigación Quincke han demostrado ser un proyecto innovador sostenible basado en la ciencia abierta para la educación médica por la forma en que se desarrolla, donde los estudiantes son protagonistas de los resultados científicos. Es, además, un proyecto movilizador de personalidades procedentes de otros países(AU)


Introduction: Quincke Research Scholarship is an iniciative that was supported by the necessity to develop research abilities for the medicine students that was not included in the curricular net in Cuba Objective: To describe the most new aspects of the Quincke Scholarship to develop the starting of the students like future scientists Methods: This study is a qualitative research. Interviews, phocal groups and available documental study were employed. Resultads: 101 medicine students and 24 residents from Cuba, USA, China, Vietnam, Uruguay, Bolivia, Spain, Mexico, Colombia and Angola among other ones were participated. In addition, professors from Spain, Ecuador and Peru came for free to share their knowledges. Based on open science non-published original data was brought to the students in order to arrive to results from an hypothesis. For foreigner students they can apply to a travel grant thanks to the American Physiological Society by an International Opportunity Program Award. Conclusions: Quincke Research Scholarship was demonstrated to be an innovative and sustaintable project based on open science for medical education because by the way the students become protagonists of scientific results and to movilize personalities from other countries Quincke(AU)

Resumo Este artigo apresenta as diversas etapas do processo editorial da Revista Ciência & Saúde Coletiva. Ao longo desses 25 anos diferentes modos de processar o trabalho foram sendo superados e outros foram sendo introduzidos. Cada etapa dessa construção será aprofundada com o objetivo de discutir "o fazer" cotidiano de uma publicação acadêmica de tamanha envergadura e complexidade. A Revista Ciência & Saúde Coletiva aprofunda em cada edição um tema da área, tratando-o em sua transversalidade e complexidade. Essa tematização vai de 10 a 35 artigos, pois 35 artigos são publicados mensalmente (temáticos e temas livres), em sua maioria em português e inglês e espanhol, cumprindo as exigências de prazos das mais conceituadas bases de dados nacionais e internacionais de livre acesso. Nesse a fazer, um dos grandes problemas é o financiamento, pois é muito escasso - embora fundamental - o apoio das instituições de fomento.


Abstract This paper presents the different stages of the editorial process of Journal Ciência & Saúde Coletiva. Different processing work methods have been overcome over these 25 years, and others have been introduced. Each stage of this construction will be analyzed in-depth to discuss the "making" of an academic publication of such a large scale and complexity. The Journal Ciência & Saúde Coletiva delves into each issue a theme in the field, addressing its cross-sectionality and complexity. This thematization ranges from 10 to 35 papers. Thirty-five papers are published monthly (thematic and free subjects), mostly in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, fulfilling the most prestigious national and international open-access databases' deadline requirements. In this making, one of the significant issues is funding because the crucial development institutions' support is very scarce.

ABSTRACT

Resumo O artigo apresenta novas abordagens para investigar o passado usando tecnologias digitais. O projeto "Pauliceia 2.0: mapeamento colaborativo da história de São Paulo (1870-1920)" é de código aberto e visa engajar o público de maneira ampla, usando metodologias colaborativas. O texto discute a concepção do projeto, seu estágio atual e suas perspectivas. Além disso, também se oferece o Pauliceia 2.0 como um estudo de caso para discutir a relação entre tecnologias digitais e métodos históricos. O resultado desse percurso, ao menos essa é a intenção dos autores listados e dos demais integrantes da equipe do projeto, nomeados ao final do artigo, almeja ressignificar o trabalho em questão na confluência entre humanidades digitais, história pública e ciência aberta.


Abstract This article presents new approaches for investigating the past using digital technologies. "Pauliceia 2.0: collaborative mapping of the history of São Paulo (1870-1920)" is an open-source project intended to broadly engage with the public through collaborative methodologies. This text discusses the concept, current status, and prospects of this project, and presents it as a case study to discuss the relationship between digital technologies and historical methods. The product of this journey (at least the outcome intended by the authors and the other team members listed at the end of the article) is meant to assign new meaning to the project at the juncture between digital humanities, public history, and open science.

Objective To provide comprehensive background reference for the application of block chain technology in scientific research ecology.Methods The related literatures of block chain and open science were retrieved and analyzed from the mainstream databases and network resources.Results According to the analysis of weak points of the traditional scientific system,as well as the crisis of open science movement,it alerted the urgency and necessity of establishing a truly open scientific ecosystem.This article also introduced the basic knowledge of block chain,demonstrated the feasibility of its application and potential advantages of block chain for constructing an open scientific ecosystem.The preliminary practice of block chain applied in open scientific systems is also summarized.Conclusions The block chain technology allows for the construction of an open,reliable,decentralized and collaborative environment infrastructure that changes the whole process of scientific research.

ABSTRACT

Abstract: I describe the attempt by a group of psychologists to reform the discipline into an Open Science (which I will call 'Open Psychology'). I will first argue that their particular version of Open Science reflects the problems that gave rise to it and that it tries to solve. Then I will describe the infrastructure that this group of people is putting in place to facilitate transparency. An important function of this infrastructure is to restrict what are called 'researcher degrees of freedom'. In Psychology, transparency is as much about closing down as it is about opening up. I will then focus on the flagship project of Open Psychology, the Reproducibility Project. According to the Open Psychologists, the neglect of replication is at the core of Psychology's current problems, and their online infrastructure offers the perfect framework to facilitate replication and give it a place in the field's research process. But replication, I will argue, is not just an epistemological, methodological issue: it implies a particular ontology and tries to enact it. The Reproducibility Project, and Open Psychology generally, can be considered as social experiments, that attempt not only to reform Psychology, but also to perform a new psychological object.


Resumen: En este artículo describo el intento de un grupo de psicólogos de reformar la disciplina en una Ciencia Abierta (la cual llamo 'Psicología Abierta'). Primero, argumentaré que su versión particular de Ciencia Abierta refleja los problemas que le dieron origen y los cuales ella intenta resolver. A continuación, describiré la infraestructura que este grupo de personas está implementando para facilitar esta transparencia. Una función importante de esta infraestructura es restringir los llamados 'grados de libertad del investigador'. En Psicología, la transparencia buscada se refiere tanto a delimitar cuanto sobre expandir las investigaciones. Posteriormente, me centraré en el proyecto emblemático de la Psicología Abierta, el Proyecto de Reproducibilidad. De acuerdo con los Psicólogos Abiertos, el descuido acerca de la replicación está en el corazón de los problemas actuales de la Psicología, y su infraestructura en línea ofrece el soporte perfecto para facilitar la replicación y darle un lugar en el proceso de investigación de campo. Pero la replicación, argumentaré, no es sólo una cuestión epistemológica, metodológica: implica una ontología particular e intenta ponerla en acción. El Proyecto de Reproducibilidad, y la Psicología Abierta de forma general, pueden ser considerados experimentos sociales, cuyo esfuerzo reside no sólo en reformar la Psicología, sino también en realizar/performar un nuevo objeto.


Resumo: Descrevo a tentativa de um grupo de psicólogos de reformar a disciplina em uma Ciência Aberta (a qual eu nomeio 'Psicologia Aberta'). Primeiro, argumentarei que sua versão particular de Ciência Aberta reflete os problemas que lhe deram origem e os quais ela tenta resolver. Em seguida, irei descrever a infraestrutura que esse grupo de pessoas está implementando para facilitar a transparência. Uma função importante dessa infraestrutura é restringir os chamados 'graus de liberdade do pesquisador'. Em Psicologia, transparência é tanto sobre delimitar quanto sobre expandir. Posteriormente, focarei no projeto emblemático da Psicologia Aberta, o Projeto de Reprodutibilidade. De acordo com os Psicólogos Abertos, a negligência acerca da replicação está no cerne dos problemas atuais da Psicologia, e sua infraestrutura online oferece o suporte perfeito para facilitar a replicação e dar a ela um lugar no processo de pesquisa de campo. Mas a replicação, argumentarei, não é apenas uma questão epistemológica, metodológica: implica uma ontologia particular e tenta operá-la. O Projeto de Reprodutibilidade, e a Psicologia Aberta de forma geral, podem ser considerados experimentos sociais, cujo esforço reside não apenas em reformar a Psicologia, mas também em performar um novo objeto psicológico.

RESUMEN La revisión por pares garantiza que los materiales publicados sean válidos y confiables, tanto como sea posible. El objetivo fue reconocer la importancia del trabajo de los revisores en las publicaciones científicas médicas y de la observación de los aspectos éticos durante su desempeño. Las revisiones por pares pueden ser a ciegas, a doble ciegas o abiertas, cada una de ellas con ventajas y desventajas. Durante las publicaciones de resultados de investigaciones científicas pueden producirse sesgos por parte de los revisores. Entre los sesgos de los revisores relacionados con faltas éticas se encuentran: los incumplimientos en plazos de revisión, la superficialidad de las revisiones, el lenguaje ofensivo contra editores o autores, el "amiguismo cognitivo" y el "sesgo de ego" por propia voluntad, entre otros. No obstante, es posible implementar acciones para minimizar los sesgos relacionados con esas faltas éticas. El trabajo de los revisores es digno de reconocer, teniendo en cuenta que casi siempre es realizado durante el tiempo libre, de forma voluntaria y por personas de alto prestigio como investigadores. En el mundo actual esta labor ha sido amenazada con la proliferación de revistas predadoras, pero también destacan los intentos para su reivindicación y promoción, como el del sitio web Publons. En el trabajo de los revisores intervienen múltiples factores, a veces contradictorios: intereses, deberes, derechos; pero todos ellos deben ponderarse sobre la base de una sólida formación y desempeño éticos (AU).


ABSTRACT Peer reviews guarantee published materials be as valid and reliable as it be possible. Recognize reviewers' work importance on scientific medical publication as well as the ethics issues to be accomplished during their performance. Development: Peer reviews could be single blind, double blind or open, each one with its advantages and disadvantages. During scientific research results publications, peer reviewer biases could be occurred. Some peer reviewer biases are related to ethical mistakes: no fulfillment of time limits, superficial evaluations, offense languages against editors or authors, at will cognitive cronyism and "ego bias", among others. Nevertheless, measures' implementation to minimize biases related to ethical mistakes is possible. The reviewers' work is suitable to be recognized, taking into account it is done almost all the times on free time, without financial compensation and by researchers with recognized prestige. In the present word, even when this work has been threat by predatory journals spreads, some intent to do it justice and promotion are highlight, as do the website Publons. Multiple factors, contradictory sometime, are involved in the reviewers' work: interests, duties, rights; but all of them should be pondering over the base of a solid ethic education and behavior (AU).

ABSTRACT

Best practices from open data science are spreading across research fields, providing new opportunities for research andeducation. Open data science emphasizes the view that digitalization is enabling new forms of resource sharing, collaboration and outreach. This has the potential to improve the overall transparency and efficiency of research. Microbiomebioinformatics is a rapidly developing area that can greatly benefit from this progress. The concept of microbiome datascience refers to the application of best practices from open data science to microbiome bioinformatics. The increasingavailability of open data and new opportunities to collaborate online are greatly facilitating the development of this field. Amicrobiome data science ecosystem combines experimental research data with open data processing and analysis andreproducible tutorials that can also serve as an educational resource. Here, we provide an overview of the current status ofmicrobiome data science from a community developer perspective and propose directions for future development of thefield.

Introducción: El perfeccionamiento de la sociedad cubana demanda nuevas formas de investigación y enseñanza acordes con la realidad nacional e internacional. Objetivo: Favorecer que los estudiantes de Ciencias Médicas se vinculen efectivamente a la investigación científica como protagonistas a partir de un curso de verano con carácter selectivo para estudiantes de pre y posgrado basado en los postulados de la ciencia abierta. Métodos: A partir de problemas como insuficiente aprovechamiento de LABCEL para el desarrollo de los estudiantes de medicina y su vinculación a planes de estudio, se asumió la dialéctica materialista como método general de la ciencia. Para las tareas de investigación se usaron los métodos del nivel teórico el histórico-lógico, análisis y síntesis, inducción-deducción, modelación con un enfoque de sistema junto a un análisis documental. En el nivel empírico el método fue la observación, la encuesta, la entrevista a directivos y el experimento pedagógico y la prueba pedagógica. Resultados: Se encontraron avalados por los premios obtenidos como el Premio Anual de Inmunología en la categoría docencia, y en los premios internacionales LURAP y IOP Award otorgado por la American Physiological Society los resultados de siete años de trabajo. Conclusiones: La experiencia de estos años de trabajo indica que esta modalidad de curso de verano a partir de la ciencia abierta es novedosa e innovadora(AU)


Introduction: The improvement of the Cuban society demands new research and teaching forms in accordance with national and international reality. Objective: To encourage students of medical sciences to become effectively involved in scientific research as protagonists, by means of a selective summer course for undergraduate and postgraduate students based on the principles of open science. Methods: We initially considered problems such as insufficient use of LABCEL for the progression of medical students and their connection with the syllabus, and then assumed the materialist dialectics as a general method of science. For the research tasks, the methods of the theoretical level were used, such as the historical-logical, analysis and synthesis, induction-deduction, and modeling with a system-related approach, together with documentary analysis. At the empirical level, the methods were observation, the survey, the interview with managers, the pedagogical experiment, and the pedagogical test. Results: The outcomes of seven years of work are supported by the prizes obtained, such as the Annual Immunology Award in the Teaching category, and by the international LURAP and IOP awards given by the American Physiological Society. Conclusions: The experience of these years of work indicates that this type of summer course based on open science is new and innovative(AU)

A gestão, a disponibilização e a preservação dos dados de pesquisas são preocupações cada vez mais centrais para os pesquisadores, as instituições de pesquisas e também para as agências de fomento e revistas cientificas. Todos esses têm o objetivo de desenvolver boas práticas de pesquisa que permitam a verificação e a reutilização dos dados, a valorização dos trabalhos de construção de conjuntos de dados e o desenvolvimento de novas maneiras de pesquisar utilizando dados já produzidos. Este artigo apresenta as diferentes etapas do ciclo de vida dos dados e mostra as iniciativas internacionais e nacionais tomadas para desenvolver esse campo que tem grande interesse para a área da saúde.


Increasingly, the management, availability and preservation of research data concern researchers, research institutions as well as research funding agencies and scientific journals. All of them aim to develop good research practices allowing the data confirmation and their reuse, the improvement of the datas et buildingand the development of new ways of searching through the use of data already produced. This paper presents the different stages of the data life cycle and shows the international and national initiatives to develop these important issues to the health field


La gestión, la disponibilidad y conservación de datos procedentes de la investigación constituyen preocupaciones cada vez mayores para los investigadores, instituciones de investigación, organismos definanciación y revistas científicas. Todos tienen el objetivo de desarrollar buenas prácticas de investigación, permitiendo la verificación y la reutilización de los datos, la valorización de los trabajos de construccióndel conjunto de datos y el desarrollo de nuevas maneras de hacer investigaciones utilizando datos ya producidos. Este artículo presenta las diferentes etapas del ciclo de vida de los datos y muestra las iniciativas internacionales y nacionales para el desarrollo de este campo que tiene gran utilidad para la área de la salud.
